Botswana highlights 2026

6 Days

Botswana Highlights 2026 offers an exceptional glimpse into what makes this country a premier safari destination. Covering an area roughly equivalent to France or Madagascar, Botswana’s landscape is incredibly diverse. The vast Kalahari Desert spans approximately 70% of the country, shaping much of its natural character. In the northern region lies the renowned Okavango Delta, one of the world’s largest inland deltas, encompassing a buffer zone of 22,000 square kilometers. This unique ecosystem transforms what could have been a barren desert into lush semi-forested wetlands, supporting a rich array of wildlife. Additionally, in the northeast, you’ll find the historic Makgadikgadi Salt Pans, once among the largest lakes in Africa, now a surreal salt flat that offers a distinctive safari experience.

It has since dried up and left salt pans, which suppress growth of vegetation. Yet during the rain season the salt pans attract many species of birds and wildlife.

Clearly wildlife habitat is diverse in Botswana. From the delta to the Kalahari desert, the grasslands and savannas where grazers are mostly found. The Chobe National Park lies close to the confluence of the Chobe river and the Zambezi River, the fourth biggest in Africa. The park is 11 000 sq km and has the largest concentration of the African elephant, close to 205 000.

Overview

This 6 day Tour will take you through one of the best safari country in the World ,Botswana. The Chobe national park with an area of 11 700 sq km is home to huge herds of elephants and ape buffaloes alongside other grazers and browsers like kudus, giraffes, mountain zebras, impalas, bush pigs and many more. As usual, these also draw a lot of carnivores as well including lions, leopards, cheaters, and other cats. The food web would not leave out scavengers like vultures and hyenas. It’s the concentration of an animal kingdom, the most common ones found in Africa.

This extends into the Savuti Game reserve further into the wilderness as you navigate the Kalahari sandy roads. This together with the Moremi game reserves are sandwiched between the Chobe river and the Okavango river. Although dry naturally, the concentration of game here is high owing to the abundance of food and water in the Okavango delta and the Chobe river. Arguably this becomes the center of all safari action you have been craving for. Far from the buzz of cars and buses like inmost national parks the Savuti and Moremi game reserves can only be navigated by 4×4 vehicles. Moremi is at the border with the Okavango delta and the only means of getting into the delta is by wooden canoes popularly known as ‘Mokoro’. These mokoro are pulled by local polers who knows the routes through the rids. The mokoro will transfer you from land through the delta to Maun. In Maun do the scenic flights to get a birds’ view of the Delta that has a buffer zone of 22 000 ha . Your Tour ends here in Maun yet there is more you can do on your day from Town tour to market and just meeting locals.
