Swaziland

Swaziland is a tiny country which borders with South Africa and Mozambique. With a warm sub-tropical climate and plenty of rain, this rich and fertile valley is fed with many rivers and streams. The extensive sugar cane and other crop farming in the region makes it so green and lively.

Swaziland natural resources are enhanced by some fascinating wildlife reserves and sophisticated tourist destinations. The three major game reserves are Hlane, Mlilwane and Mkhaya. They offer a wide diversity in habitats and a rich blend of wildlife.

Hlane game reserves is situated in the east of the country and the biggest of the three. It is home to lion, elephant, rhino, giraffe, hippo, kudu, white backed vultures and antelopes. Guided walking trails, mountain bike trails and 4×4 safari game drives are available.

Accommodation at Hlane is also amazing. The round thatched huts gives a good taste of African while clearly inside they are so modern and comfortable. One cab chill at the bar and restaurant which overlooks a water-hole where rhinos frequently visit.

On the South is the Mlilwane game reserve which is the most visited national park. The park can be explored by foot, on horseback, by mountain bikes or on 4×4 vehicles. The abundant birdlife includes black, crowned and fish eagles, the purple crested roller and many more. Wildlife in the park includes the giraffe, hippo, tsessebe, blue wildebeest, nyala, warthog, oribi and other antelopes.

Accommodation inside the park is at Sondzela lodge. It overlooks a valley where wild life roams. The campsite is amazing and the chalets of rondavels just as impressive.
